WORK EXPERIENCE
2021-2024
Program Coordinator
ALBERTA SOCIETY OF ARTISTS
As the sole full-time employee responsible for supporting Society operations:
-
Coordinated all aspects of 30+ exhibitions with hundreds of Artists at galleries across Alberta, including issuing calls for proposals and informing jury selection; coordinating art transportation, creating promotional content; installing/striking shows; organizing openings, workshops and events; developing virtual catalogues and exhibits.

Supported the Provincial Councils’ governance and initiatives: Council communications, online/in-person meeting arrangements, completion of financial obligations, execution of Committee initiatives, and relationship-building with non-profit and arts organizations.

Developed organizational capacity: updated and executed membership drives; managed membership information and collection of fees; created and distributed e-newsletters and other internal/external communications; re-designed office systems; coordinated and onboarded part-time staff and contractors; and secured external funding; updated, upgraded and repaired the website and Provincial Office systems; recovered data from outdated equipment; updated charitable donations process to be CRA compliant; integrated and reorganized all digital information and files across multiple devices, software systems, and cloud storage;

Operated the Calgary Gallery and Office, hosting members and guests; organized office and storage to free a third gallery space; liaised and negotiated with building ownership, including negotiating more accessible gallery access.

Managed the Society’s scholarship program; promoted and oversaw the selection processes; notified applicants of outcomes; issued payments; supervised and educated students on gallery show installations; and supervised online exhibits

Supported the ASA-hosted Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) Travelling Exhibition Program (TREX) for the southwest region, as needed.

Created content for and managed social media accounts, website, live-streaming platforms, and app throughout the summer and during B!G Pride Week.

Liaised with 100+ local, national and international partners and sponsors to engage the community and financially support Calgary Pride’s year-round programming and the longest Pride festival in Calgary’s history.

Offered the Land Acknowledgement for the PRIDE Parade.

Created and executed, as part of a small 6-person team, 5 nights and 2 days of performances and programming, including making the first-ever blended experience (digital & in-person) for Calgary Pride.

Invited Two-Spirit and other Queer Indigenous leaders to host a Traditional Opening Ceremony in City Hall in conjunction with the official raising of the Pride Flag at City Hall with Major Nenshi.

Mounted diverse programming: a digital conversation with Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil (internalized cultural harm), panel discussion (faith and queer identities) in conjunction with the American Consulate of Canada, and multiple panels on ally-ship in business.

Co-Vice Chair (2017-2018), Vice Chair (2018-2020), Chair (2020 – Current) of the Scarboro United Church Board ensuring the needs of the community, church, and congregants are the priority with any issue brought before the board. This includes but is not limited to; evaluating and considering various social, political, financial, management, rentals, religious issues both of Scarboro United Church, the United Church of Canada and communities both local and global. Additionally, special attention was given to the update and development of the new website and research on upcoming technologies that the organization may use.

Treasurer (2017-2018), Social Media & Event Planning Executive (2016-2017) and Member (2015-2019) of the Mount Royal University improvisational theater group, Improvination. Maintained all financial accounts, handled all monetary transactions both outgoing and incoming, created proposals for external funding resulting in over $1500 being awarded, helped organized and promoted Improv shows; redesigned banners for social media. Created a digital format for all financial documents, and insured that all financial data available was included and up to date. Organized and promoted all Improv shows; redesigned and produced updated logo; designed and implemented the use of visual marketing and event promotion to the broader university community. Spearheaded the redrafting of the club’s constitution for the first time since the club’s formation, and other general leadership initiatives to update and exceeded past standards.
